Ammonites galore

Yesterday we woke up to thick fog which did not lift until about 12 o'clock however it cleared enough for us to drive and so we set off towards the village of Kimmeridge on the Jurassic Coast. We stopped at Tescos and had a wee bump in the car as it was being parked so came back in hopped into our car and set off again.
Having parked the car safely this time we clambered along the coast by the cliffs. We are not allowed to hack at the cliffs so had to look amongst the fallen bits of rubble for fossils, the photo is one l found when l turned a bit of stone over but l did find quite a few others of varying degrees of completeness. It is so exciting to find something so old.
The extra is of the cliffs where the fossils have come from, they are very soft with layers of mud and then stone.
Afterwards we stopped at an old church, St Micheal and All Angels in Steeple, which has one of the original stars and stripes flags which used to belong to the Washington family- stripes and 3 stars, my how it has changed over time.
