At last

Well I am relieved with this photo. Firstly because at last birds have been back to the bird feeder and I have managed to get a picture of them. Fortunately these starlings are so greedy that they didn't notice me creeping up on them until the point at which I took this shot. We have also had goldfinches, a blue tit and a robin but they are a bit more difficult to creep up on and shots from the house have been poor.
The second reason I am pleased is that much to my horror on the way out of the house to take this shot I managed to catch the camera strap around my foot and dropped the camera onto the floor. When I tried to take a shot it wouldn't focus. When I changed the lens little bits of black plastic fell out. I have managed to break the lens but at least the camera seems to be working ok. I don't know if the lens can be repaired, my hubby thinks not but maybe someone can advise. I'll try the local camera shop- assuming it is still open! The broken bits are from the ring where the lens attaches to the camera. So not a good day - but it could  have been worse I suppose.
I spent the rest of the day boiling in my MiL's over heated lounge trying not to think about it!
