Upside Down River

We’re camped next to a river in the Gascoyne area. Great cattle station campsite with thermal hot tubs.

The river only flows on the surface a few weeks a year. The rest of the year water flows under the sand in a giant aquifer. The station has bores to pump out its water.

The locals call these systems ‘Upside Down Rivers’.
