Through the trees to Bothal Castle

Bothal Castle, near Morpeth on a bed of autumn leaves. Very peaceful, tranquil walk along the River Wansbeck with shafts of light pouring through the leaf canopy of the woods.
At the end in Bothal we took a slight diversion from the planned walk up through a small wood to nearby Pegswood, where we managed to temporarily lose the track virtually buried under fallen leaves. It involved a little bit of a scramble up a slippy slope covered in pine needles - all part of the fun.
