Now I understand!
Yesterday afternoon when the mist had covered the football field outside, I heard a strange sound outside. I had to peek, of course, and I saw a man shoveling snow from the side of the road into the road. It usually is the other way around... And then he was flattening the snow with his feet. Later I heard the little tractor with a snow shovel on driving around outside, so I guess the mans hard work was destroyed... Later in the evening I heard the same sound again, so I guess he was at it again.
This morning, on my way to the doctor, I saw why he was shoveling snow into the street! This photo shows the state of the road just outside the entrance to the parking area. Not really good for the cars to bounce down those holes in the ice...
And, while I'm writing this two tractors with snow shovels has arrived outside working to get the ice away from the street. The large one has real troubles despite it being large and heavy, and are moving back and forth over the road, wheels spinning on the ice sometimes, not getting anywhere. They've been working at it for half an hour now and doesn't seem to be leaving just yet.
As for the doctors appointment it was just to prolong my sick leave. He is just amazing! I can't say it enough! Sometimes I just wander if he can read my mind or something, because today I was chattering about how great I was feeling, how ready I was to get out and do practice and that I was trying to do daily walk for so and so long. I even told him that I was joining a book club later in january to get out more and meet some new friends, just to let him know I'm trying to get more social and not just being cooped up in my home. And he just looks at me and offers to get me additional help for stuff I didn't even mention. I don't know how he knew that I needed that, I surly didn't! :)
