A 'Pipe Band'... get it?
This scul?ture is certainly a favourite with the pupils.
It is on the wall along one side of the exhibition where George Wyllie's early works are, pieces he made in his forties and fifties when he was starting out as an artist. With limited founds for his artwork, he frequently created pieces by recycling materials and this pipe band is a good example of that period.
It's a pipe band made from old pipes, well old exhaust pipes to be accurate.
We love the wee faces on the wee characters, the pipers, the wee drummers, and how everyone is just a wee bit different.
Even the youngest pupils have enjoyed this one, becoming their own pipe band in their imagination.
It's also one that attracted an early blip when Shine-a-light visited the exhibition in when it first opened in November.
(Thanks to Motherwell United Services Club for letting us borrow it for the exhibition.)
