Between fen and mountains

Cows and the Cobla

We were entertaining friends for lunch so I only got down to the park fairly late in the afternoon for the biggest festival of the year, the Fête de la Châtaigne or chestnut festival. Chestnut trees proliferate around the village and the chestnuts were being roasted in large drums.  There were a large number of other activities including guess the weight of the ram and lots of local produce on sale.  Children were having turns at sitting on this magnificent Aubrac cow.  We were told it was so docile because it had been bottle fed from birth.  All the time the Cobla band played in the background (see extra).
