Exactly as I found them on the grass, outside the hospital, after I took Himself in at 07.30 for his surgery.

For the medical experts amongst us his procedure is called a "left carotid endarterectomy" -  which basically means opening up his neck and cleaning out the carotid artery (which, in his case, was 90% blocked).  
For him only a local anaesthetic was used (he said, altho' the surgeon told him he wouldn't feel anything, that it was very, very painful - very was not the actual word used - lol) - he was in theatre almost four hours with two hours in recovery before returning to the ward.

I cried almost all the way home after dropping him off .......... I called the hospital at 12.30, 14.30, 16.30 and finally, at 18.30, was told he was in the ward - I think I cried more then than I had before - but they were "relief" tears!!   He was in good spirits when I went to see him despite a very sore throat and not being able to move his head much.  Finally it's over!!!!

Thank you to everyone who sent love, hugs, good wishes, prayers, positive thoughts and vibes - they worked.
