Making an indicator

Class 6 has started the new term in science by learning all about acids. But how can you safely tell if a liquid is an acid?
In chemistry we use indicators to show us. An indicator is a substance that changes colour to show the pH of the liquid in question.
You can just buy indicators or, as class 6 did this afternoon, you can make your own by using red cabbage!
