Time

Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?

Didn't think I had much to blip until I acknowledged that thought and how ridiculous that "I didn't have much to blip" sounded. Then what I realized is that today is all about TIME. (Actually every day is, don't you agree?)

Here on the western edge of the USA, the focus is "Daylight Saving Time." All Californians are supposed to move their clocks ahead one hour before going to bed this evening (I think the Oregonians and Washingtonians too, but not Jim in Tucson). This is "spring ahead." So we lose an hour. At 10 p.m. it will really be 11:00 (officially it does not happen till 2:00 a.m. Sunday).

When I was a youngster, I loved Daylight Savings Time. Our parents' rule was that we had to be in the house when the street lights went on, so that meant that we could play outside late into the evening. When I was a parent of youngsters, I hated Daylight Savings Time because I didn't want my kids out playing. I wanted them home where I knew that they were safe. Now that my kids are grown, I'm not sure whether I like the long days or not. Night seems to be my favorite time, my most creative time.

The good thing about losing an hour will be realized . . . in autumn when we get an evening that is one hour longer. This year that will happen on Saturday, October 31. Time is the most precious commodity we have. While it appears to be free, it costs everything we've got. Once we've spent it, we can't get it back. So I want to spend it wisely. Okay, once in a while I want to be a little frivolous!

Thanks for all the nice comments on yesterday's blip--yes we have a great-grandbaby. Actually, he's already a toddler. Our son, was born on my 16th birthday. So that entered us into this event entirely to early. That son is now Tristan's grandpa (and that's hard to comprehend!). I used the side-profile photo of Tristan because I was not quick enough to catch him smiling. Deb mentioned in her comments a DSLR, and one of those cameras may be in my future.

Time is of the essence.

Good night from Southern California where time is flying!

P.S. Tucson Jim, the sun set here in a cloudless sky. So I'm curious to see what happened there.
