The excavator 2

Despite some decent bug shots, I kept coming back to this image.

I could not make my mind up how to shoot it. On the one hand I wanted some artistic movement, but on the other, I wanted detail, so that you could see the tool and the intensity of the operation. I guess sharpness won out in the end.

I featured the excavator back in December, when I sneaked a shot through vegetation. But I wanted a more open shot. So, everyday I stop and watch him at work, not using my camera. He would stop every few strokes to examine me, to see what I was upto. Eventually, after a couple of weeks of this, he gave up and just carried on digging, so today I took my shots.
