Tree Bark - Braidburn Valley Park
Over the winter months when I am attending the Edinburgh Photographic Society Wednesday night sessions I tend to go into Edinburgh in the afternoon to do a bit of photography. Yesterday was the first meeting of the season that I could attend. In the past my photography on a wednesday has varied between street photography, traffic streams and night photography but this year I thought I would try something different. So yesterday I went to a part of edinburgh I have never visited to see just what I could come up with photographically.
The Braidburn Valley Park lies between Greenback and braid hills area and you pass by it when you travel south out of Edinburgh on the Comiston Road. I have often wondered what it was like in there so yesterday I stopped next to it and ventured into the park The burn is so small that you cannot see it unless you go all the way down the hill to view it and the rest f the park is primarily grassland with avenues of trees planted along the pathways. I took a few shots of these avenues but as the light was rather flat I found myself more interested in to taking macro shots of the tree bark which was curling off in places. Knew these would not look particularly interesting in colour but thought I could do something with them in monochrome. Hence my blip today. It remains to be seen whether these project of visiting less familiar locations in Edinburgh will be a fruitful pursuit !
