Dolly on Hasenhorn
Lewis and I drove into Germany today to visit the Südschwarzwald, or Southern Black Forest. We started off in Todtnau where we took the chairlift up to the top of Hasenhorn, or rabbit mountain. I did not know this was it’s name before our visit, it was a pleasant surprise. The view was spectacular and I have included a panorama in the extras. We took the coaster down, which was a track and your own personal rollercoaster car of which you are in charge of the speed. Scary and fun at the same time. There was a market in town and I got an enormous pretzel whilst Lewis treated himself to some wurst. Afterwards we drove on to Feldberg, a mountain ski resort in the winter. We too the cable car up with a lovely German couple who were baffled as to why I was dressed to summary. We had to explain that it was over 20c and therefore this was like summer in Scotland to us, everyone else looked dressed for a polar expedition. I also got some odd looks at the top, I was definitely the only person wearing a dress and light cardigan up there. The view was phenomenal, you could actually see the alps. It was even better once we climbed up Feldbergtrum, a 45m tower, which at 1493m above sea level offered an impressive panoramic view. I’ve included a panorama of the view, look for the alps in the distance. We finished off our day in Freiburg where we climbed their Munster. A fantastic day, the Black Forest is so beautiful I will definitely be back to see more of it.
