The Kessock bridge (as ever) this morning.

Had been considering having a period of not Blipping this bridge, until I heard some of the details of its forthcoming maintenance/refurbishment. Sounds like a complete overhaul of all the surfaces and barriers. Allegedly, changes to legislation  mean that the side barriers (as my bike is leaning against here) are to have their height raised "significantly." One colleague reckon they'd be up to 1.90 metres high (about 6ft 3in). Taking photos like this, looking down the way, aren't going to be very likely. Though holding a camera overhead may still capture the likes of this. It'll just be a bit more tricky. We don't how the change will affect the general view, as in how restrictive to visibility the barrier will be. Somewhat unfortunate for people hoping to enjoy the view, or spot the dolphins. Numerous tourists walk over in the Summer, and I've an ancient back-Blip somewhere in the pipeline, of a pair of dolphins taken from the bridge.

The reason for the side barrier change, is obviously due to the all-to-frequent incidents such as this old back-Blip (I think most folk missed it).

Work commences on the 11th February, and major traffic issues are expected for the long period of the works ("To avoid disruption to traffic during the tourist season, works will be carried out in two phases: from February to June 2013 and February to June 2014" - source).

My back-road cycle route is likely to become (as it has before) a "rat-run" for some drivers hoping to save seconds. And much more dangerous because of that. At least it shouldn't be too bad for me on the bridge.

The bridge is going to look different. So all of those past Blips will be like so many peoples Blips always are - a record of how things were at that time. I think I may take some more!
