Compton Mill
Or all that remains of it, at least. We were in Leek to see my Nan and decided to make an effort and park up in Town and wander round the Vintage Market, have lunch in the hipster cafe, all that. As we set off out again towards Cheddleton we came across the site of the old Compton Mill and stopped to have a look. There used to be a big antiques and collectibles place here with a cafe we occasionally frequented as teenagers. Around the corner on Duke Street there was an old mill-workers pub called the Jolly Bob, made out of two terraced houses knocked through, that I remember going in with my Grandad way back. That's been knocked down as well, apparently, it's all enough to make you feel quite ancient...
