Another Film Morning

Another very enjoyable film studies morning with Nigel. Today we looked the films of Ousmane Sembene, the first African film director.  He worked into his 80's always making deeply political film. His last on female genital mutilation was shown throughout Africa.
We also looked at the films of the first woman director Dorothy Arzner, she also invented the boom microphone that came out of working with the very mobile Clara Bow, who rushed around sets.
