Sally Mair - Loving life

Red Admiral

I continue to be impressed by the camera on my phone. I never knew that a red admiral had striped antenna. This one was sitting in some nettles amongst the brambles I was picking. It was so well camouflaged against the dark dying leaves that I hardly noticed it at first. (extra) Its underwing was quite beautifully patterned if not as colourful as the top. The sunshine seemed to bring out lots of butterflies this afternoon we saw several red admirals, a couple of whites and a tortoiseshell.
Church this morning, so nice to be back in my home place. I picked a kilo of brambles as I walked home and boiled them up, they are dripping overnight with a couple of apples from the garden for a batch of jelly. Colin and I then walked down to Stockbridge for a coffee in Soderberg in advance of picking up Eilidh and taking her to Rainbows after school.
We had a quiet evening then a game of Trivial Pursuit before an early night.
18805 steps today so back on track
