On this day in 1925 John Logie Baird performed the first test of a working television.

And today is the birthday Violet Jessop, otherwise known as Miss Unsinkable, born 1887, died 1971. She survived the sinking of the Titanic in 1912 and her sister ship the Britannic in 1916. And bizarrely, she was also aboard their elder sister ship the Olympic, when it collided with a British warship in 1911. Unsinkable!
