'Resurgam'

Across to school - the new 'Studio' school - for the Grand Opening of its building, this afternoon. The school, which is joined at the hip with Queen Elizabeth School, has been up and running for two years, during which time its premises have been erected. I've already had a tour 'round so I got there in time for the speeches and the meal :-)

This sculpture - 'Resurgam' - by local artist Geoff Rushton is made from a beech tree that has been on the school grounds for two hundred years but which recently succumbed to a tree lurgy (honey something?). I'm afraid the picture really doesn't do it justice but it's absolutely beautiful.

After that, I went for a drink with my very good friend, Chris, and we were joined a little later by the Minx. After a couple of pints, the Minx and I went for a meal at Number Nine, which, should you find yourself in Kirkby Lonsdale, is currently the best place to eat. (Unless you fancy a curry!)
