The calm ...
,,, before the storm! Lorenzo due to arrive tomorrow night and six western countries, including Cork, are on orange alert! It's very still and there's some interesting cloudage going on. I just risked a swim and it was rather nice though I was on the lookout for Portuguese men of war who gave been seen in the vicinity. I'd like to see one but not share the same bit of water. And there was a five swan fly past today - the news is going round.
Apollo 11 was terrific last night - all original footage. What a mad idea to put men on the Moon and we were all gasping at the computers, rows and rows of the them but very few with actual screens, just print outs. And not a woman to be seen in Mission Control! It was very moving too and even though you knew it had a happy ending, incredibly tense. Admire the sunset before we went in.
Our first Irish lesson for a while this morning- urghh, forgotten everything . And now i'm off to bookclub - The Beekeeper of Aleppo being discussed which I found very difficult to read simply because of the awfulness humans are able to inflict on each other.
And then tomorrow we are off to Dublin for a few days. We are going to a conference on saturday (the archaeology and history of pilgrimage!) and are also indulging in a bit of art. Hopefully we shall arrive before Lorenzo does. Catch up in a few days.
