Monday: Changing Colours
It’s been a full day but, in the midst, there were some lovely autumnal colours.
We started at the University of Victoria (affectionately known as UVic) for sessions on combined law/indigenous law degrees, climate change and earthquake management.
From there it was on to the Butchart Gardens, where we had lunch, and were given a tour. Our guide was Rob, from Gloucestershire, who had been in Canada for 40 years, but who was ‘going home’ to England to retire......
Our final stop of the day was at Viking Air, manufacturer of fire extinguishing aircraft. We then had a quick turnaround at the hotel before it was back to UVic for an evening reception.
After all that, the only thing for it was a nightcap back at the hotel, along with my Ottawa boss and my lovely Portuguese colleague, Marta.
