The Toy Shop by living artist Peter Blake, 1962
Blake has a lifelong obsession with collecting toys and folk art. This creation was assembled in his studio flat and was conceived in part as a way of storing his vast collection. The door is on a smaller scale than the window because it is a cupboard door. It was bought by the Tate in 1970.
Extra: Window close-up.
