Krakow day 3

Today we were up early as we had booked a trip to Auschwitz and Birkenau.

We first visited Auschwitz, our guide was fab and gave us all the history about the terrible things which happened here, you just can’t believe people could be so evil to other innocent humans. Walking around they took you in to the bunkers where prisoners lived through to the gas chambers and incinerators, we saw belongings which were left from the people who were sent to the gas chambers, even human hair which they cut off after killing them.

They then took us to Birkenau, this is where the trains would pull up and the guards would decided who lives and who dies, completely cruel and they were lead there thinking they were going to get a better life.

After the trip we had some lunch from a little local market which was delicious, followed by a few hours chilling in the hotel after our early start.

Tonight we went to a traditional polish restaurant and of course we had to have dumplings!

We then went to a very small bar which we had walked past many time and it always had loads of people outside but all drinking the same drink Pinjana Wisnia which was a cherry Brandy and they add in cherry’s which have been soaked in the liquor and is today’s picture. The rest of the night was spent sat in the square drinking mulled wine and baileys.
