Smart Works

2 afternoon teas in a week can’t be good. But the cause is. #2 daughter and family came to visit so while the males went to play in the woods we went to the next village where the WI were putting on an even to raise money for the Smart Works charity. It is set up to help disadvantaged women get back to work. They get to chose an interview outfit and are given training for interview and confidence building. Recently it got a lot of publicity because Megan
Markle did an event for it. Our celeb was friend Carol who is involved in the northeast
group. There were clothes to buy, a raffle and lots of tea and cakes. #2 daughter is size 6 or 8 so got a Diane Von Furstenberg
Dress for £20. I didn’t see anything I fancied.

The boys had a great time in the woods and on the moor. James has been doing his phonics at home with his mum without the aid of the talking frog. She has a meeting with the school on Tuesday. Fingers crossed they come up with a strategy to keep James engaged. He’ll be 5 next month.

We are going out to friends’ for supper but first I must get packed for the long drive to London for the interview at the consulate. Let’s hope my headscarf doesn’t slip.
