Let some sun shine on

I've watched this spider every morning when I made tea. It has chosen a perch by the window beside the kitchen sink. I often seem to manage to break part of its web, quite accidentally I must add, but within a very short time the web is patched up.

Today I noticed this rather pretty collection of sun rays behind the web in the later afternoon. It reminded me of being shown diffraction gratings in physics classes at school.

I was also pleased to note there was a bundle of food wrapped up in a cocoon in the middle of the web. I think it may be the very annoying fly that had evaded my attentions. I think a web is a better antidote to flies than random swipes through thin air by an annoyed human.
