All shapes and sizes
This is what it proudly said on the box...........
And they were NOT exaggerating. Every strawberry in the punnet, was actually made up of two/three/four strawberries.
My first reaction to this. OMG ! It's been treated with a chemical. And rather than being delighted, at the fact that I was getting MORE STRAWBERRY FOR MY BUCK, I actually wanted to give them a miss.
Yes, there is a possibility that the variant plant could be creating this, but...... the box, suggests, it happens all the time. If it happens all the time, it's NOT NATURE.
I decided to google multi strawberry strawberries. I got a hit, confirming my suspicion that giant strawberries, are the product of chemistry, not biology. With a vague, rather unscientific blurb, to the effect that the chemical can cause kidney failure in humans. Doubt that is true, but still...........
As I packed myself up to go to the farm, I told Mom, to steer clear of buying this brand of strawberries.
PS. They did taste okay - I had them for lunch, smothered in cream. And the fact, that there were MORE, was great. I found myself having to share them with Skye, the baby bulldog. She loves them. SERIOUSLY ! A dog eating strawberries. Lol !
