Another wonderful program

Our schools are seriously under-funded. Arts are considered a luxury. Some us of (ahem!) consider arts training a necessity. I have volunteered to be an "Arts Literacy" teacher-volunteer for Bella's school. Some talented grandparents created this program--five artists a year, in a rolling sequence of five different years. Volunteers teach the program according to prepared power points for each artist and then exercises in which the students play with elements of each artist's work. It's a beautiful thing. Bella's school is Spanish Immersion, so we are hoping her mother, who is a native Spanish speaker, will be paired with me, and that we can co-teach in English and Spanish. Just as I was trying to "scale back" on my involvement in the world, how can I resist this? It's too delicious. Lots of parents (and two grandparents) have volunteered. Today was our first training session. Our first artist is Joan Miró. From Barcelona. Oh, we are having fun!
