Honoured guests

On previous visits to Sardinia we have eaten a very typical Sardinian dish known as Zuppa gallurese

It is not really a soup but more solid as in a lasagne, made with bread (usually stale bread), broth and various cheeses.
It was not on offer at our hotel.
However....I mentioned to a chef wandering around the dining area....and to our astonishment, the kitchen made it for us tonight as a special meal.
The hotel has about six hundred guests at present with the kitchens working flat out and someone took the time and trouble to make a dish for us. It was fantastic, flavoured with herbs including an island speciality, myrtle.

It doesn't end there.

The hotel is in a national park and every night, unseen by the guests, wild boar (cinghiali) sneak into the grounds and cause havoc, rooting among the trees for roots, insects, etc and destroying some of the vegetation around the trees. They also leave hoof prints in the soft ground as well as more traditional trademarks on the lawns.

In addition to the wild boar, deer also invade the grounds and eat a lot of the flowers. They also leave droppings.

I asked how I could see these nocturnal beasts, for Blipfoto of course.
Something went wrong with the translation (my terrible Italian) and after the above Zuppa, we were served another dish, made just for us.
Wild boar marinated in red wine.

Sorry, vegetarian/vegan people, it would have been rude to refuse after all that trouble for honoured guests.
