Ruperra Castle

The Wide Wednesday theme this week is 'history' and with the sun out we set off from home to walk about three miles to Ruperra Castle, Michaelston Y Fedw, near Newport (South Wales, UK) so I could take a photograph of this lovely old castle ruin that was built in 1626.

It has a long and interesting history (see link above) but fell into ruin about 1945 when it caught fire whilst being used by the British Army!

Just after we got to the castle it started raining and continued all the way home. I was optimistic wearing short trousers and t-shirt!
