WidWed - A Piece of History
My contribution to the challenge this week are the remains of the Huddersfield Cloth Hall which are now sited in Ravensknowle Park which is the site of the Tolson Museum. The Cloth Hall was built in 1766 by Sir John Ramsden and was demolished in 1930 and it's believed that it could accommodate two thousand clothiers. By 1929 building land in the town was at a premium and it was decided that the Cloth Hall had outlived it's usefulness. Plans to build a new library on the site fell through and the Ritz Cinema was erected in it's place, which in turn was demolished in 1985 to make way for the Sainsbury's supermarket which remains there today.
I'm looking forward to seeing all your WidWed pics later this evening and I hope to give out Hrts and HMs on Friday. :-)
