Diary of an Edinburgher

Wet feet

The new coffee machine we got the other day is super. But the cord is barely 30cm long!!! How crazy is that! And in the booklet, many times, they state that an extension cord must not be used. They suggest that an electrician can put a new socket in. What? Why don’t they make the cord a wee bit longer?

I couldn’t wait to try another kind of coffee pod and a bit less frothy milk. Still not quite right...

We wandered across the Links to the local electrician to ask his advice about the extension cord. He said it would be absolutely fine to use one, and rattled off a few wattage numbers as proof. Or he could extend the existing stunted cord for £15.

We wandered on down the street, which wasn’t such a good idea. Archie is not well behaved in streets when he knows there could be food scraps around - he pulls and pulls, nose to the ground, ever hopeful, and often successful. AND the local school pupils were out in mobs, blocking pavements, eating chips, yelling at each other and probably dropping litter.

We walked back over the Meadows and got very wet feet for our troubles (longish grass and unsuitable footwear). But Archie did a lot of running between us, which is always good. Then I watched a bit more of the bad behaviour in Parliament. Pathetic.

I've added (in Extras) a photo of the Prince Albert Pillar at this end of the Meadows, along with the information about the 'Grand Exhibition' in the Meadows in 1886. It must have been a spectacular sight at the time, but I think the open green space is, and has been, much more beneficial for the general populace.
