inspired by Granny Ratcliffe

She was a very quiet and unassuming lady. She had been a dressmaker and made all our summer frocks for us when we were little. She used to come and stay with us for a week or so and spend the whole time sewing. When we arrived home from school, she would have a dress all pinned up for us ready to try on. there were pins sticking out everywhere.

She passed on her skills to me and my middle sister, Anne.We were quickly ticked off if we didn't bother to do our tacking properly. No short cuts when Granny was around!

Granny came from Derby. Her father worked on the railways as a boiler maker, and so did her father in law. Now we live nearer to Derby, I want to resume the research I did on tracing my maternal line. It is time consuming, so will have to take precedence over my daily blips.

I am sure I will be inspired from time to time...........
