Fuzzy Little Hearts

My Dear Princess and Dear Fellows,

Today I saw an article on the internet, stating that cats form emotional bonds with their human guardians.

Of course, I did not really need the internet confirm something I've felt all along, but it is good to see it in print.

In fact, the findings are borne out by something that happened on Sunday night. There was a mild earthquake in Porirua (this is the suburb of Wellington where Lemon lives). Due to the fact that it was pretty close, it felt stronger than usual. Typically, when we feel an earthquake it's like a big lorry is going past outside, but on Sunday it felt like the whole world got shoved violently sideways - just for a second.

Caro and I exchanged looks, and Jasper leapt down from his bed in the corner of the room. He hopped up on the couch next to me, turned around, curled up and went back to sleep.

I'm not sure what he thinks I could do to prevent earthquakes, but it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside that my presence makes him more secure.
