Thrown out, or carefully placed? Spotted this morning on Bath Street. In the evening went to a ceilidh at Bellfield. For some reason it was much quieter than previous ones - maybe half as busy as last time. Wonder if September is just a bit early in the autumn for what feels like an activity for a darker evening? Maybe last year's equivalent event was still in the honeymoon period for Bellfield as a newly re-opened community-owned space and therefore masked a deeper seasonal pattern? Still, there were enough of us to dance and plenty space to dance into so no shuffling around without room to move. Danced with many different partners, some friends and others people I had never met before. Quite possibly will never meet again. Funny the way that lives meet briefly at an event like a ceilidh. You introduce yourselves, share a dance and move on. Would be a fascinating project (or is it just me) to somehow track the connections and produce a map of the world with the ceilidh hall at its centre showing the places people had come from as lines on the map. Lines that come together for just one evening, or even just one dance - the Orcadian Strip the Willow at the end of the night when everyone dances together. Although that wouldn't have been ideal in this case as several of my partners - like K and F and E and M - from earlier in the evening had left by then for one reason or another.
