New boots

Mr hazelh and I have been on a shopping spree. We left the house at 10:15, returned after 16:00, and the first thing that we had to do when we got through the door was contact our credit card company to explain ourselves!

We were prompted to phone Mastercard because our last attempted purchase this afternoon was refused at the till. As anticipated, Mastercard had put a block on our card on the basis of unusually high spending activity witnessed earlier in the day.

The bulk of the spending was on spectacles and technology. I have ended up ordering a replacement for the pair of glasses that I picked up on Monday because the prescription was not right for medium and long distance vision. In fact, I was so disappointed with the original purchase that I took advantage of the well-known high street supplier's 'no quibble' guarantee. Then I returned to my old optician to be retested and order a new pair of glasses. The new ones were over £100 more expensive, but at least I should be able to see out of them. The technology purchase might have been a new mobile phone...

Since we were in town most of the day we went out for both coffee and lunch. Other minor purchases of the day have included bedding, groceries, and these new walking boots. They replace my old ones, which have started to fall apart and leak.

Exercise today: walking (19,686 steps).
