The Porch
For lack of a better word that is what we call it.... It is much more pleasant since we took the plastic roof down, rearranged the furniture and got a new table and umbrella. The door to the kitchen is just out of frame on the right side of the picture.... We haven't quite figured out what we'll do when it starts raining, but probably take off the cushions, store the umbrella and perhaps roll up the rug. which seems to be fairly unfazed by rain, so we'll wait and see how much it rains and how the rug does before we worry about taking it out from under the heavy table.
I have spent a lot of time out here since OilMan incapacitated himself taking the roof down. Having taken a turn for the worse, he is now limping around in a back brace and planning on calling the orthopedist tomorrow. The one thing remaining to be done, other than fixing OilMan, is replacing the damaged roof and installing the solar panels. We're tentatively scheduled for the end of October for that.
The weather cited by the power company for preemptively cutting power in our area is predicted for tomorrow through Wednesday....hot, dry and windy. So far we've gotten no notifications, so we've decided that about all we can do is get in some extra water for drinking and flushing the toilet. We have a gas stovetop, but it probably has an electronic ignition. Must check that. if it can't be lit by a match we'll be roasting marshmallows and hot dogs over an open fire. I doubt if PG&E recommends that either. If it goes long enough for us to use up what we have, or the novelty of camping in our own home, we'll go to Dana and Jim's. Until then we'll live on the last of the season's tomatoes and cucumbers and lots of wine!
