Iconic View.

I wasn’t going to post a blip of St Michael’s Mount until later in the week, but I’m afraid both MrC and myself loved this shot looking through Mousehole harbour entrance.

So glad the weatherman was wrong.
No rain and thunder. Instead we have had warm sunshine.

A walk round Porthleven with coffee at Naughty but ice.
Had a look round the craft market stalls along the quayside. Not open when we come in March. Nice to see shops open which are usually closed.

I fell for a painting. A collage of all the Cornish places we love. Bought a print which we will frame when back home.
Started chatting to the artist, and couldn’t believe it when she came from Norwood Green. A village only a few miles from where we live. Actually worked as a barmaid in the Peartree pub. What a small world.

Sunday lunch at the Fire Engine Pub in Marazion was delicious. Fabulous view of the sea and St Michael’s Mount.

Then drove to Mousehole. Not as busy as we thought it might be.

The barometer fixed to the wall of the Ship Inn. Loaned to the village in 1854 by Admiral Robert Fitzroy, who was formerly captain of HMS Beagle. The ship which took Charles Darwin to the Galapagos.
He was founder of the Met Office. It’s purpose was to provide data to improve storm warnings.
The Met Office gifted it to Mousehole Harbour Authority in 2009.

The other photo is the oldest house in the village. Dating from the 14th Century.
The plaque says
“ Squire Jenkyn Keigwin was killed here 23 rd July 1595 defending his house against the Spaniards.”

Had a look round Newlyn harbour on the way back, and now enjoying a refreshing cuppa.
What an enjoyable first day.
