Bit of a nothing day
Have had one of those days where I've been out and about but don't know where the day has gone as it doesn't feel like I've done much!
Went out with my husband to Roslin today. Had hoped to get some good pictures of Rosslyn Chapel but the temporary steel roof which has been errected for conservation purposes really makes it impossible to take any good shots of the exterior (and photography is banned inside).
So instead we wandered along to Roslin Castle. I've been there before, although from the top it just looks like an old house with some ruined walls at the front and side. It's only when you take the time to climb down into the valley you realise there are 5 floors as the castle was actually built into the rock. Only the upper 2 floors are visible from above and these are currently used as a holiday let (the lower floors look ruined). It is interesting, but there's not really that much to see. I much prefer ruined castles which you can have a proper wander through.
Then paid a quick trip to Ikea, did a big shop at Sainsburys and suddenly the day is over!
