Forest morality

Just when I thought it was safe to go into the forest I learned that there may be morality problems with trees. The structure in the photo is beside a path which follows Trepanier Creek in Peachland, British Columbia. The signs provide information about the area. The enlargement shows the part that explains about detection of morality in seedlings. I wish I knew what to look out for but you can bet that I will be very careful from now on in the forests. If forestry workers are looking for signs of morality it must mean that immorality runs rampant amongst the trees.

Do you suppose they meant "mortality"?
