Here's a pygmy nuthatch knocking one back at the local watering hole. Look how the bird has to capture a droplet in its bill and then tip its head back to get a sip. That's a lot of work! How about cats that lap up water with their tongues curled into a spoon shape. And then there are the dogs who capture water in the backside of their tongues.
Such thoughts make human happy hour all the happier!
