Nice stocky little fella this one. Found all over the Australian mainland but not Tasmania. Nocturnal bird, hunts in waters edge. Spends a lot of the day standing in shade of a tree! Doesn’t move much and well camouflaged, so hard to spot. Will let you get quite close. Lives near permanent water. Nomadic, follows the rain!
