The Old Forge (Friday 20th September 2019)

At this time of year there are a lot of bargains to be had from plant nurseries including mail order ones, and I have added two more acers that cost a fiver between them to my collection, an Osakazuki seedling and this Atropurpureum. They arrived on Wednesday and were promptly potted up by Refna. They are temporarily living on the kitchen window sill so I captured this one for Flower Friday, with thanks to Bikerbear for hosting.

Lozarhythm Of The Day:
The Shadows - Mustang (recorded 20 September 1960, EMI Studio 2, Abbey Rd, London)
Shadows: Hank Marvin (Brian Rankin)(gtr), Bruce Welch (Bruce Cripps)(rh gtr), Jet Harris (bass), Tony Meehan (dr)
The Shadows' best period was before Jet Harris and Tony Meehan left when, with more adventurous production, they could have been stronger than Duane Eddy and other wilder American rivals, especially since Hank Marvin had the first Stratocaster in the country. Mustang, recorded on this day in 1960, came from The Shadows EP, released in January 1961. Like many of their best recordings it was written by Jerry Lordan.
