Bright berries but brown leaves

I noticed yesterday driving back from Seil that many of the rowans still had large clusters of very bright red berries, but the leaves had either fallen or were brown and curled.

Then this  afternoon I saw this rowan which looked, at  a distance, as if it had no leaves at all .  That wasn't completely so, but close up it was that clear the depredations of autumn were well underway, even though the day was  beautiful  and warm, and it is only the second half of September.
