FLOWER FRIDAY - MORE "PLONKED" ROSES

You may remember that a couple of days ago, I pruned two of our rose bushes before they were moved into a “holding” bed in the garden, ready for our drive to be re-laid next week.  

These are the David Austin Crocus Roses that I brought in, all tight buds, “plonked” in a vase, inherited from our son when he went to Vietnam, and now look at them.  Definitely their time to have fifteen minutes of fame on Blip!  So far the rose bushes are looking good and hopefully they will take and do well next year.

I had a surprise when I came back home this morning after popping into town to do some shopping for Mum, because Mr. HCB had dug out part of the garden to make a pond!  We talked about it a few weeks ago and had looked at some shaped pond liners, but then decided, although we have quite a large garden, that the pre-formed ones were just too big and too deep, so thought that perhaps a large washing-up bowl might be the answer - rather different, I know, from a full-blown pond, but we just want to attract some wildlife to the pond, not have huge koi carp in there!

However, Mr. HCB has dug out a shaped hole about three feet in diameter and says we can go out and buy some pool lining material tomorrow and also some plants - so I am quite excited about that.  We don’t want anything fancy, but it will be good to see more wildlife in the garden and who knows, we may even have our own frogs and toads soon and if we do, they will definitely be Blipped!

I am popping over to see Mum this evening, but will wait until a bit later when the carer has been - to break up the evening for her.
