IT revolution
When I started in GP land in 1987 we’d one small computer to help with repeat prescriptions Everything was done on paper and this may explain my appalling handwriting.
About 10 years ago we went paperless - everything now is done in front of a computer screen : recording consultations , dealing with results and mail and doing reports. This is a major improvement on the old days when notes and bits of paper were always going missing.
Some of my younger partners are now working with 2 monitors which allows them to multitask a bit better , but may explain why so many of us wear spectacles and a few are troubled with headaches.
