Sunsetting
End of long day in the office and no blip. An emergency flower picture was taken just in case.
Mid afternoon the news had come through about the Government’s decision to stop the plans for the mandatory named person and child’s plan due to the complexities of information sharing.
There’s been lots of debate about seeking consent to share information: seeking consent has always been and remains the policy. Where child protection concerns arise however, such consent is no longer essential to safeguard the child. That remains the position.
So information in reports to hearings should continue to bring together information about the child or young person’s circumstances overall. And set out what is going well and where action is needed. This should also come with recommendations about what compulsory measures seek to achieve and how the infant, child or young person’s wellbeing is to develop.
As I left the visit to hospital the sky was turning into some spectacular colours. So a short detour to the Braids gave this opportunity to look west to Ben Lomond. A sunsetting blip felt more appropriate for today than flowers given the news.
