Operation Dendrobium.
At one point, about 6 years ago now, I had a back porch full of orchids. Happy orchids at that. Over the years and different living situations, that number has dwindled. I'm now down to one that has haphazardly survived apartment life thus far...even if it's not "pretty". At the end of 2012 I decided that I would put off even thinking about getting more until I could make this little guy happy again. (And if this fails, I think it's time to stick to some simple, low light house plants and a couple of african violets...) The bark had turned to mush and it was definitely past time to repot it, so today... Viola`! It sits in the larger ceramic pot which has stones and some water under it to create a bit of humidity and, hopefully, make it a little happier.
Frankly, the roots all looked sketchy to me. :-/ I'm hoping that that's just because I'm used to keeping (and repotting) a lot more Phalaenopsis orchids than Dendrobiums...? And that it really will be okay...?
