What a day!

Wow! I started the day at Farlington Marshes (once I could find it!). I'd heard reports that a very rare bird had been seen there. I wasn't holding out much hope of seeing it, the marshes were huge, it takes 2.5 miles to walk around the perimeter. First a kind lady pointed out some Bearded Tits (keep the comments clean!) to me, which I'd never seen before, then I saw Meadow Pipits, Curlew Sandpipers, Dunlin and a willow warbler. Later a man pointed out some yellow wagtails which were darting between the legs of some cattle. Then I stumbled upon a large group of twitchers. The had just spotted the rare bird, an Eastern Olivaceous Warbler. I tried to follow where they were looking and managed to get a 2 second look at it before it flew off, amazing. Apparently there have only ever been 29 seen in the whole of the UK ever! It was such a special moment. Unfortunately it was so quick that I couldn't get a photo. But seeing it was enough. After lunch I headed to Langstone Harbour this tome the opposite end from my hotel. I had a lovely walk along the sea front. There were hundreds of Oystercatchers, I've never seen that many before. All of a sudden then all shot up in the air and started murmuring (like starlings), then I heard a cry from above and a majestic Osprey flew over my head and circled in front of me. The first time I've seen one. I have so many new breeds to add to my list. I am so lucky. I'm heading home tomorrow afternoon. It's been a great holiday here. I'll definitely come again.
