Pinkhill.
This is the last station before Corstorphine on the old Edinburgh Suburban Railway. People used to alight here to visit the Zoo. You can see the booking hall on the bridge. I'm standing on the eastbound platform.
As a schoolboy I used to read the ghost stories of M.R.James under the bedclothes by torchlight. Now I'm proud to say my family can afford normal bedside illumination.
A number of James' tales involved trains - all the rage in the Victorian era when he was at work. The classic, however, is by Charles Dickens - The Signal-Man.
In it the gaping black maw of a tunnel is an unsettling presence beside a signal box. The great Denholm Elliott was in the BBC film of the story.
I'm not a big fan of horror fiction but I remember that one all right.
