In full bloom
The "cold" seemed to be "under control", so I did the usual Saturday routine at the gym i.e. pump and zumba, then headed to Springs........
To find the plum tree, in full bloom.
I captured the moment.
At the same time, I accidentally captured the yellow creeper - you can just see it, to the right hand side of the plum tree. It was also blooming. Little did I know, within an hour of this capture, it would BE GONE !
The new neighbour introduced himself.
He was busy, cutting down the plants , from our side of the wall, that were invading his space. He had a particular problem with the yellow creeper. Unlike the plum tree, the creeper, was actually touching the wall, but it was giving a pretty spectacular display, on both sides of the wall.
Apparently this was UN-ACCEPTABLE.
He wanted to tackle it, from OUR SIDE. In the interests of being "nice" neighbours, Mom agreed, with the caveat, that whatever he cut down, he was responsible for dealing with the waste.
So, as we were trying to have lunch, he was chopping (unsupervised) in the back yard.
In the end, he did NOT just cut down the bits on his side - he hacked the whole thing down, so that the bush, with all the flowers, fell into his yard.
We were left with six brown stalks. No greenery and NO FLOWERS.
I was stunned ! He KILLED IT ! Why ?
Was it some kind of power play, like a dog, marking it's territory ? This was the only plant he targeted and it wasn't being a nuisance.
PS. Mom say, odds are he didn't, kill it - it will grow and bloom again. But, we will not be enjoying it, this year. The blip lesson - don't take anything for granted......
